A star anise in spices, which you also know by the name of Chakri Phool, has been a part of many Indian dishes, this spice enhances the aroma of food as well as gives a new taste to the dish. It is the fruit of a Chinese tree.

The powder made from chakri phool is used in Indian Maharashtrian dishes like malvani gravy, vangi bhaat etc. and is a major condiment in biryani. But yes, only a regular quantity of it should be used, if more quantity is added in the dish, it can spoil the taste.
