Madeleine Heyman

Madeleine Heyman (b.1991) is an artist that works mainly with figurative painting and explores the subconscious and the hidden layers and faces we carry.
She explores this with distorted but figurative paintings, with the female body in focus, in different dimensions and materials.
She uses the body as a tool for expressing concepts in the works, the bare skin symbolizes who we are, the true self, and is manifested by the consistent use of naked, flesh-like colors in the works. In the paintings, she aims to create an strange image where the space that represents emotions and reality disappears.

Materials and dimensions vary from piece to piece as another tool in exploring the subconscious and a way of challenging the traditional way of practicing and observing painting. The goal is to raise questions that only the observer can answer, and the set of questions will change depending on who is looking at the works and depending on the time in life and the past of those set of eyes.
