Broadway-inspired Arts
Whenever I get hooked to a different musical, I always have the urge to draw them. Reimagine the characters on how they would pose and how they would look like. Here are the several artworks I've made during my Broadway era, and one of them is currently in New York City right now!
First one would be Beetlejuice musical,

The ghost-with-the-most is coming to life on stage in this original musical based on Tim Burton’s wonderfully demented film of the same name. Directed by Alex Timbers, BEETLEJUICE tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager obsessed with the whole “being dead thing.” Lucky for Lydia, her new house is haunted by a recently deceased couple and a degenerate demon with a thing for stripes. When Lydia calls on Beetlejuice to scare away anyone with a pulse, he comes up with the perfect plan involving exorcism, arranged marriage and the biggest sandworms Broadway has ever seen. Reference.

Featuring my two favorite characters, Adam and Barbara Maitland.
What's cool is that they're one of the 700+ artworks posted right outside their Marquis Theater!
My artwork's placed on the middle "Beetlejuice" right above letter "E."
A William Shakespeare-inspired comedy musical, called Something Rotten! Now this isn't a Shakespeare original but sure, the characters were from his famous plays and novels.

What's it about?

Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rockstar known as “The Bard.” When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theater involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self...and all that jazz. Reference.

Nigel Bottom and Portia, yes they're both hardcore bookworms & poet lovers.
Now to head over to the nearest musical-diner, Waitress, a musical adapted from a classical movie Waitress (2007) with songs written by Sara Bareilles.

Is it about pies and waitresses?

Waitress is the story of Jenna Hunterson, an employee of Joe’s Pie Diner, a small cafe off-Highway 27 somewhere in small-town Indiana. Jenna is in an abusive relationship with her husband Earl. When Jenna unexpectedly becomes pregnant, she decides she needs to find a way to start a new life and pins her hopes on entering the National Pie Bake-Off so that she can win the grand prize and leave her husband.

At the same time, she begins to fall for her gynaecologist Dr. Jim Pomatter, and embarks on an affair with him, which, alongside her pregnancy and the prospect of being a mother, helps her discover who she used to be.
Jenna’s friends Becky and Dawn have their own troubles, and support each other through the messy human existence. Becky is married to Phil, and outside of being a waitress, is his carer. Dawn is scared to meet someone and fall in love, and so has become a recluse. Together, they inspire each other to dream bigger, and realise that everything changes. Reference.

Another Shakespeare-inspired msuical called "&Juliet!"

It's basically the alternate life of Juliet if she never went with Romeo.

& Juliet is a 2019 coming-of-age stage musical featuring the music of Swedish pop songwriter Max Martin, with a book by David West Read. The story focuses on a "what if" scenario, where Juliet does not die at the end of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Opening to critical acclaim in London's West End in 2019, the show was nominated for nine Laurence Olivier Awards in 2020, including Best New Musical. Three of its performers — Miriam-Teak Lee, Cassidy Janson and David Bedella — won Oliviers for their performances of Juliet, Anne and Lance, respectively. It also received a record-breaking thirteen nominations at the 2020 WhatsOnStage Awards, winning six, including Best Actress in a Musical for Lee.
Now this one's s musical series from NBC, it's a broadway musical creation of Marilyn Monroe's life.

The series revolves around a fictional New York City theater community and specifically the creation of a new Broadway musical. It features a large ensemble cast, led by Debra Messing, Jack Davenport, Katharine McPhee, Christian Borle, Megan Hilty, and Anjelica Huston.
And for the last one, West Side Story (2021)! Persoanlly, this is also more like Romeo and Juliet type of story.

A musical in which a modern day Romeo and Juliet are involved in New York street gangs. On the harsh streets of the upper west side, two gangs battle for control of the turf. The situation becomes complicated when a gang members falls in love with a rival's sister.
