FC TARAZ ––– Emblem redesign

The project was designed as a concept and is not an official emblem redesign of the Taraz football club.

The redesign of FC Taraz began with a history research of visual images in this region. These include the architectural style, graphics, writing and shaping lines. The current emblem of Taraz does not convey all that coloring of the ancient city, therefore, I propose the concept of a new club emblem and identity.

Sketches & lettering

In search of an identical style of writing, characteristic of the qazaq people, I realized that it is difficult to find one main font. On the territory of Qazaqstan, at different times, different scripts were used, from runes to cyrillic, but the most typical for the southern half of the country is the Arabic style of writing. Still, the lettering I designed can hardly be considered made in the Arabic style. This is a latin letters that combines the images of modern fonts and the Arabic fluidity that creates oriental style of letters, which is so not enough in the current football and city emblems.

Character representing the city ۞

Now more and more clubs, making rebranding, refuse the image of a soccer ball, because the emblem's belonging to a sport should be conveyed by the graphic style, and not by specific equipment. Also, the current emblem of FC Taraz needs an character that is lively and strong, like a snow leopard from the city emblem. In addition, this snow leopard, inscribed in the Turan's eight-pointed star, is unique in its pose, unlike lions from European emblems (Chelsea, Aston Villa, Sporting Lisbon, Lion, etc.)

Continuity of symbols and geometry

In the new emblem, the continuity of traditions is displayed by preserved symbols in the form of vertical lines, fortress gates with towers, and shanyraq. You can also notice that the elements in the new emblem are located in the same places as in the current logo. This also contributes to a smoother update of the club's symbols.
