Subantarctic Pollution & The Wandering Albatross

Animation made for the Clipperton Project.

The Clipperton Project, working alongside the Scott Polar Research Institute (SPRI), the 5 Gyres Institute, Seertech Solutions, Creative Scotland and the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research at the University of the Republic in Uruguay, will embark on a major expedition to conduct surveys of the Wandering Albatross at some of the most remote and inhospitable locations on South Georgia Island.

The Wandering Albatross is an animal facing extinction because of ingrained human behaviour; behaviour which includes long-line fishing and plastic pollution. Even in the remote subantarctic, plastics are impacting marine wildlife.
