With this project I am trying to rethink the arcade gaming area in bars and beer pubs.
Traditionally , bar desks with TV screens are separated from the arcade gaming zone.
The COVID sanitary regulations almost killed traditional arcade cabinets because it is very difficult to maintain the safe distance and regular sanitary cleaning of all game control buttons and joysticks .
I have an idea to embedd original foot-operated game controllers under the bar with COVID-safe distance between each other . Gaming hardware can be hidden anyware as it is compact now. With this aproach , classic big arcade cabinets will become obsolete. Imho, general layout may looks like this :
My experimental foot-operated game controller was made from plywood, Lazy Susan bearings, cheap sensors from Ali-Express and Arduino pro. This arcade game prototype was made as a compilation of elements from several classic arcades like "Pac-Man", "Ice-Cold Bee" and " Dance Dance Revolution". DDR arcade is plyed at "step-dance" style . I prefer the "Twist" style. As the games are controlled by feet, the players can drink beer or other drinks and play game at the same time . In the video clip bellow you can see how the whole system works .
