MISPLACED OBJECTS
3 paintings turned into stories
“I am very concerned that our society is much more interested in information than wonder, in noise rather than silence.”
Fred Rogers
This project is centered on the question "how do we as artists encourage wonder in adults?" Rather than saturating my project in scientific research, I decided to approach it more holistically and subjectively. Wonder and imagination are not produced by a computer. They come from within each person, inspired by art we encounter or the beauty of the world around us. As an artist, I wanted to use my skills to create art that spoke to the storytelling side of human.

I created three paintings, each with a narrative structure to it, and invited three writers to create short stories based off of those paintings.
They each had the theme of "Misplaced Objects", a subtle nod to Surrealism in that the environments and the objects placed in them are all real, however paired together they felt unrealistic, almost like a dream.
Thank you for viewing my project!
