Bonding Day 2013
The Soka New Century Orchestra (SNCO) is one of the fifteen cultural groups of the Singapore Soka Association. The orchestra, formed as a result of the merger between Soka Wind Ensemble (SWE) and the string ensemble, was officially named by President Dr. Daisaku Ikeda of Soka Gakkai International in 2006.
Having established its foundation since the start of the '90s, the SNCO's ultimate mission is to contribute to the cultural development of Singapore and share the joy of music with people from all walks of life. What SNCO seeks to bring to its audience is simple -- hope, courage and confidence.
The Encouragement Booklet
10 weeks prior to a major public performance at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, the Soka New Century Orchestra organised a bonding session of food, fun and games to keep the team morale high.
A foldable pocket-sized booklet containing inspiring quotes from notable musicians and leaders from Soka Gakkai was given to the band members, with each weekly encouragement counting down to the performance day. The booklet served to help renew the members' passion for music and remind them about the true purpose of this art form -- to bring hope.
After the first 5 weeks, the booklet can be opened up and reverse-folded to continue the final 5 weeks of count down to
'D-Day'.
