Eurovision Contest Lyon 2023
The imprint of music
Concept

Context
The Eurovision Song Contest is the oldest televised music event in the world. Created in 1956 by 7 European countries, it became year after year the biggest musical show, watch by hundreds of millions of people on all continents.

France was one of the founder countries of the ESC and is part of the big 5. It is also one of the countries that won the most with 5 victories. But, since 1977 France didn’t win the contest. One day, France will win again the contest and hopefully the sooner, that is why I imagined what it could look like if Lyon (my hometown) hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2023.

Concept
After the victory of France at ESC Turin 2022, Lyon was chosen to host the 2023 edition of the contest. Lyon is the 3rd French city and the 2nd urban area. It is a very special city with a long history. Host of many festivals and concerts, from local artists to international stars, it is a city where music has left its imprint.

The visual identity
The visual identity of ESC Lyon 2023 is simple but full of sense. Built around the baseline “the imprint of music” this sober logo the musical identity of France and Lyon. Made of thin lines as a fingertip, this round shape also reminds us two CDs on which the colours of Lyon reflect. In the center, the two rivers that encounter in the city also dépit the most famous French landmark.

Applications
This simple design can be easily applicable on all support. From printed billboards to digital ones, smartphones applications and social media or clothes and merchandising. It will dress the city and create a particular atmosphere in the city hosting the ESC.
