What are Centers of Excellence ?
They are Nodes of positive Charge, Nuclei for development, providing confidence and happiness together with sense of belonging and development opportunities, the size does not matter, it is their impact and chemistry with the place, time and community, the right chemistry is called “Urban Ecology”.
Why Fatimid Cairo ?
Potentials:
-It had great Commercial importance and was the only Commercial Hub in Egypt where Senior Traders meet.
-Rich Surroundings and potentials: Historic Places - traditional markets - excellent handicrafts community.
-There is a different world inside and outside the walls, where all efforts are made to take care of what is inside the walls, while what is outside the walls is neglected.
After it was an important commercial center serving all neighboring Districts, it is now full of informal housing with high population density and some poor services.
-The area lost its historic commercial character and value. There is a steady reduction in craftsmen compared to its original status.
Brief :
The project is an investment hub which is a must in this valuable location as a rejuvenating point to Fatimid Cairo.
Old Traditional Cities like Fatimid Cairo and their people have many potentials that needed to be reactivated and revived. So, my project is an incubator for traditional cities’ potentials and local people’s ideas, skills and talents until they become strong, able to withstand and compete by Providing them Support through connecting different Parties (Investors & developers - The Government) to achieve mutual benefits

Project Typology :The Project typology is a hybrid of commercial, touristic and conventional.
Vision :
Centers of Excellence could rejuvenate Old Traditional cities and restore their Value by Boosting the aspects of Economy
Mission :
The project is an investment Magnet that should rejuvenate local people in old Traditional districts through incubating and re-empowering their potentials , skills and ideas and providing them technical & logistical support and Magnetizing the Investors to Boost the aspects of Economy
Concept statement :
The Project is an incubator to recover Traditional Cities’ Value through the Economic Development process, linking different parties to achieve Mutual Benefits
Conceptualization :
The region had a great economic importance in the Past and my project aims to restore and recover that economic value. It will re-empower the place & local People’s potentials and to give them a chance to express their skills, ideas and talents and to provide them technical and logistical support to help them make the best use of these potentials and to contribute in the economic development process.
The project will achieve that goal through connecting different parties which are: Local Community - The Developers & investors - Government Bodies to achieve mutual benefits.
So, my Project is an INCUBATOR for the potentials of the region and its local people
