Project 2: “Micah”

This graphic illustration is part of a series of descriptive portraits I started as a way to capture moments in time.  When I was pregnant with my first child, a family friend gave me a notebook to journal in to capture the day-to-day adventures of being a parent. While I loved the concept of journaling in a notebook for each child, telling them what they were like and charting out their growth, I found it hard to carve out the daily or weekly time to do so. These graphics, instead, are my journal for my children.

Micah is a vivacious and energetic little boy who keeps things lively for me and my husband. To truly convey who Micah is, a calm or neatly posed picture just would not do. It had to be a little wild.

Though the first two projects in this series are my two sons, Micah and Elijah, I plan to branch out and make this a wider group of images and people.

“Micah” was created in 2022 using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.
