This was a pro bono project with a couple of friends as my clients. They started a developer group back in 2011 and named it Philippine Android.
They wanted me to create a logo for their group inspired by the Philippine Flag and of course, the Android OS:

Here is the 2011 version of the logo where I created a Droid's head based on the sun seen in the PH flag. I also used the exact color of the flag.
Back in 2011, the developer group was just starting. The Android platform is also considered as the preferred mobile platform for younger mobilephone users, along with the iOS. This association of the platform with the younger demographics became the basis of the mascot's overall appearance and character.
But this 2014, I made minor updates to the logo and the mascot
The font used in the logo was changed to Roboto, the same font later used on Android OS for a simpler and more professional look.
I also removed the rounded upper corners of the text borders for more cohesion with the other elements.
The mascot got some upgrades as well.
Ever since the group was formed, Android platform has grown so much, so it's just appropriate that the mascot follows too. He now looks grown up and more professional. The original mascot seemed like he's seeing stars after being hit hard by something. So in the 2014 version, the stars are moved and now a part of his clothing.
