theStudio - 3D Modeling & Environment Design

Concept Summary
The project was inspired by my love for music, instruments, and the environment music artists create in. Modeling and texturing objects used in the creation of music I like was the main focus of the studio concept. Guitars, MIDI Keyboards, and studio monitors are essential professional studio objects so I chose those as my hero assets. The most significant hero asset in the composition was the Fender Stratocaster. The idea to model a Stratocaster was inspired by favorite guitarist Jimmy Hendrix. He is known for wielding the Stratocaster as his signature guitar with a few models featuring a cream colorway and floral/paisley colorway. The guitar also symbolizes my appreciation for guitar based loops in modern hip/rap beats like the song “Sold Out Dates” by Lil Baby and Gunna.
The Process
I started the project by compiling a mood board of reference imagery for my environment architecture and hero assets. I then narrowed down 3 hero assets to model around the studio environment theme. Next was accumulating accurate reference imagery to use as a guide when modeling the instruments and other products in Maya. After modeling the hero assets all of the objects were brought into Adobe Substance painter for texturing and applying materials. Last the studio architecture, hero assets, and additional assets were all brought into the Unreal Engine 4 game engine for UHD 4K rendering. At the end of the case study you can see additional renders of the studio environment.
