Get Centered University Project

The original concept for the MSLC Project (The Math-Science Learning Center, a 'center where UNO students can find the assistance they need to conquer academic challenges in Math and Science' based at the University of Nebraska-Omaha's Durham Science Center) stemmed from sketches of the primarily broad subjects of, you guessed it, math & science. After processing various (recognizable, notable, main ideas) elements of each subject, including parabolas & beakers, the artful yet highly biological specimen of the DNA double-helix (spiral) was decided to be the most effective visual, mathematical and scientific element upon which the center's logo could be based.

Angles were experimented with and eventually the decision was made to make use of typography that not only (was described by) clean lines, but that also allowed for clean transcription to other media, such as the center's signage just outside the door and (etching/frosting) into the glass panes of the windows that line the outside of the lab.

As a main place where students could get tutoring from other contributors to the MSLC, which also encompassed the center's primary founder & UNO professor, Dr. Dana Richter-Egger, it was obvious that a feeling of structure and clarity would have to be the most (instantly, quickly, primarily) recalled by this particular identity. With that as a foundation for the rest of the project, there was nothing left to do but to sketch combinations of the double-helix with the decided typographic treatment & mood. Yes, even the identity for a Math-Science Learning Center conveys some amount of mood, even if emotion isn't the first part of the sciences that you'd normally consider important. (smiley glyph of some sort)

All things considered, please enjoy the following documentation of this project, as it has been very meticulously molded into a (piece, product) that can convey as much in the blink-of-an-eye as it has over the arduous duration of it's various stages from concept to final delivery.
