The nivola & new york exhibition tells the figure of Costantino Nivola in his wonderful work done for architecture and design in New York.
My research begins with looking carefully at the relationship that Nivola had with graphics, and it all started with Olivetti for which he was director of the graphics office for two years (1937/38), before emigrating to the United States.
Influenced by the Bauhaus, like Nivola, I got off to work on a rational line, using the square module as a graphic meter, on the basis of the Universal Pica typeface (designed by Bayer) that Xanti Schawinsky, Swiss artist and graphic designer who participated in the Bauhaus in Dessau, he used in 1934 to design the Olivetti brand, maintaining the very lowercase character as used in the Bauhaus, and that Nivola himself used in many of his signatures with a lowercase n.

La mostra nivola & new york racconta la figura di Costantino Nivola nel suo meraviglioso lavoro svolto per l' architettura e il design a New York.
La mia ricerca inizia con guardare con attenzione il rapporto che Nivola aveva con la grafica, e tutto un pò nasce con l' Olivetti per cui sarà direttore dell'ufficio grafico per due anni ( 1937 /38 ), prima di emigrare negli Stati Uniti.
