Previously a popular pastime almost exclusively among cycle couriers, bike polo has gained popularity world wide. Chicago Bike Polo League helped foster the growth of the sport across the mid-west by organizing the scattered teams, regulating play and hosting the first annual Mid-West Bike Polo Champeenship in Madison, WI. Chicago Bike Polo has since competed in many local and regional tournaments such as the North American tournament, as well as the World Bicycle Polo Tournament in Berlin, Germany. These posters and hand bills were among the first widely used advertising for the Chicago League.

The eye-catching fonts, Chicago flag colors and embellished design became the iconic bike polo poster "look" several years in a row for Bike Polo Leagues across the US. Printed cheaply on rough paper, the inks faded and the antique font became slightly distressed making these posters reminiscent of the mass-printed turn of the century circus posters, a fittiFirst poster establishing the Chicago Bike Polo League visual identity.
