Renegade Brass Band - 'Bottle This Fire' cover art and print

I've always been very nervous about doing artwork for Renegade Brass Band - maybe I'm a bit too close to it, but I've always been happier outsourcing the design elements to other (better) people. However, with the new EP on the way, I wanted to give it a try. The title 'Bottle This Fire' comes from the lyrics of one of the tunes on the EP, and worked well as an evocative title. I started with a photo mock up from reference images I found online, hacked them into the sort of layout I wanted, then start drawing over that. The explosion took a long time to get right, but I'm really happy with how it came together,
As this EP is only coming out digitally, I was keen to make a physical version of the artwork - I love buying prints from bands, so I thought we should do a short run version of the artwork to go on the merch desk. We've added a bit of gold foiling to the artwork, running around the outside of the bottle and shattered edges, which looks really great and makes the artwork really pop.
