A soothing lighting for block the unnecessary information
Concentrator is a lighting combines light, music and a software, helping people to concentrate through eliminating the unnecessary information. With its software, once users put their phones under the light, Concentrator will automatically connect them and block the signal which comes from outside.
消訊燈是一系列能過濾訊息的燈具設計，當使用者身處光的範圍，消訊燈會自動連接資訊產品，並啟動屏蔽模式幫助使用者過濾不必要的資訊，降低資訊焦慮發生的頻率，力求提升使用者的專注力。

The New Normal We are Facing:

Overwhelming information causes anxiety and harms people's mental health.
So far, more than 70% of the GEN Z group experienced anxiety due to information, causing information anxiety disorder (FOMO), and the situation is expected to get more serious in the future. To alleviate the symptoms of information anxiety, users need to consciously classify and prioritize the importance of information, which is the focus of this design.
據統計，當前有超過70%的GENZ族群曾感受過資訊焦慮，接收過量、雜亂的訊息容易使他們產生焦慮、煩躁、注意力下降等負面影響。為求減緩GENZ族群之資訊焦慮，設計一款能協助使用者過濾、分類資訊的系統，即為此設計之著力點。

What does the GEN Z require to combat information anxiety?
1.A Safe Zone to Filter the Unnecessary Information, but Keep Important Message.
Several respondents noted that they consciously activated the do not disturb mode to stay focused. However, they are sometimes hesitant to turn on because they are concerned about missing information, or because interface factors make detecting the Do Not Disturb mode switch state difficult.
幾位訪談對象提到他們會有意識地開啟飛航、勿擾模式，讓自己能夠保持專注。但有時會因為擔心錯過資訊而不願意開啟，或者因為介面因素，難以察覺到勿擾模式的開關狀態。
2.Quick Meditation for Alleviating User's Information Anxiety.
In the survey, it is difficult for user to return to a state of concentration after experiencing information anxiety, which leads them to want to check the information again, forming a vicious circle. As a result, it is necessary to devise a method for quickly guiding the user out of the anxious state.
根據訪談，即使受訪者意識到自己受資訊干擾，仍難以在感受到資訊焦慮後回到專注狀態，導致他們想再次察看訊息，形成惡性循環。故必須發展一種能夠快速引導使用者脫離焦慮狀態的方法。

Feature 1: Filter unnecessary information
Customize a safe zone to fliter unnecessary information
Concentrator connects to devices such as phones and laptop computers via a microcomputer. Concentrator will recognize new information and block it from reaching the devices. In other words, the user will not be bothered by unneeded information such as social media.
Only the specific messages could pass Concentrator
To keep the necessary message still available, user can use the application to add emergency contacts. The app will synchronize the pass and block lists with Concentrator. Thus, even user’s phone is under the protection, we can still ensure the imperative message will be received.

Soothing Lighting for alleviating anxiety
After being activated, Concentrator will use lighting effect with resonant sound to provide users with auditory and visual stimulation. Such a sound and light effect act as a switch, effectively reminding users when it is time to change their emotions and assisting users in overcoming information anxiety.

Contribution and Cooperation's Detail:
Concentrator is designed by Hao-Xuan Lu in the forth year in Taiwan Tech, including the ideation, light programming, modelling, rendering, photography, layout and so on. This project attended 2022 LOGITECH:DESIGN FOR THE NEW NORMAL and gained the GOLDEN AWARD. In the process of contest, I discussed Concentrator with the international design team of Logitech, and finally presented it to Logitech's heads of design in Asia and CDO.
