LIVEWORM - Jocelyn Saab Showcase

My design was chosen for the cover of the 2021 Griffith Film Festival Showcase on the late Lebanese journalist and filmmaker, Jocelyn Saab.
I had the opportunity to work on the interior design choices, colours as well as collating and inputting the information and photos to represent the amazing life of Jocelyn Saab.
The Griffith Film School holds several mini film showcases each year with different themes. The next showcase revolves around the late Lebanese journalist and film maker, Jocelyne Saab.
The format and general layout of the cover and inside layout remains the same for each Showcase The colours and graphic cover, backgrounds and footers are changed to represent the film topic/filmmaker/nation that GFS are showcasing.
Start by researching the film maker and Lebanese cinema and work from there. You will also find a bio and a collection of stills from her films in Client Supplied. GFS has mentioned female Lebanese fashion as a potential influence for the style but are open to all ideas.
McVeigh in talking about Dunia, discusses the colours metaphorically in such a beautiful way I couldn't help but take some inspiration from it. Red is for the mutilation, the colour of blood & desire.  Green is for the country, Islam, life and life is hope. Intellectual was a soft blue to say she thinks and the sensual woman is black.
Then Anne talks about having a very powerful photo of Jocelyne with two lengths of black roughly spun and woven fabric, stitched together horizontally with two gaps in the stitching. She then talks about the cloth being a barrier but that here resembles a woman in niqab and simultaneously the vagina.
Based on the information I read I have tried to include the colours that McVeigh talks about and have created a book cover that looks like it has been woven and stitched together in black to represent the photo and mention of the niqab.
