Komfi derives from the word ‘comfort’.
Inspired by the theory of Chinese acupuncture, this scarf adornment is a smart massaging device that designs to take care of muscle tension caused by bad posture. Adapting the idea of stimulation of points on the body, a heat sensor is included to detect rising temperature by muscle tension. Once the temperature exceeds preset,
it triggers the LEDs in the bubbles to alert user of bad posture. The bubbles also feature vibrating sensors that stimulate 肩井穴 ( a point on shoulder which relieves muscle pains ) to better achieve the effect.
This concept was then realised by a Work In Progress prototype. I was fortunate enough to be able to exhibit the project in the recent Sunday Showcase at the ArtScience Museum on 1 December 2013 in Singapore.
