This branding project presented a unique opportunity to take advantage of the existing equity of a brand I had built several years ago, and reengineer it to remove some of the outdated styling and make it a modern, durable, and timeless brand. The greatest and most recognizable feature of the existing brand was the color range, which I tweaked and reincorporated into their new look. The palette was now more defined and slightly more broad, to give a full range of flexibility to the brand. The previous brand had no true logo or icon, but a nameplate and primary design element that carried the visual identity. We moved into a more concrete logo, which was the most tedious but rewarding part to get right. The icon first represents an important element to the Executive Director - a clear connection to the state of South Carolina, the land from which they hail. The stylization is intended to be similar to shards or fragments of different colored glass – representative of the diversity and even brokenness with which students enter into the program, but ultimately come together as one family creating something incredible. SCSL is a phenomenal "gap year" discipleship program that I was blessed to be a student in, and honored to work with ever since. For more information, visit www.scsl.com. Read Less
