Kobylarz’ cycle Art for Art’s Sake consists of a dozen or so paintings from the years 2012-2013 – and was premiered at the Kronika Centre for Contemporary Art in Bytom in May 2013. The artist painted hypothetical exhibitions he dreamed up himself (utopian, impossible, likely nonsense) that could be held in Bytom’s institutions (but not only there), as well as those proposed by the curator – planned for the next 18 months, where the fantasy painting waits for its real reflection or erases an imaginary future in an actual exhibition. It’s a kind of setting the task; “testing” the imagination. The images are accompanied by the author’s comments contained in this book.
