52 WEEKS

52 drawings corresponding to 52 weeks that I spent in Athens in 2019

I decided to combine all these drawings in a single project. Most of them have already been published before, I feel the need to bring them together, to show the variety of my inspiration and imagination in that period of my life and, in some ways to let it go too.

iIt was an extraordinary year but big change and new things are coming in my work now and i have the impression that this year 2019 nostalgia is holding me back.

My practice is embodied through black monochrome environmental drawings. In my drawings, there is several influences : archeology, theatrical scenography, expressionist cinema, dreams, religion, the work of time and architecture.

It also in Athens that i experienced the first time the scratching technique that i use.

They are all unified by this single technique

My technique is derived from the scratchboard, I cover acetate plastic sheets with black paint on one side, and on the other with white paint. Then I scratch the black part to make the white appear.

All of theses starts as improvisation, most of the time i did not have any sketches before.

They are all 70x50cm, a format that allowed me to store and transport them easily in a single suitcase. Purely practical.
