Textile Architecture
How do you create textile architecture. This studio project for a textile museum is a weave of materials composed to guide you through the gallery. GDK manufactures a metal woven 'fabric' that is the main material for this project. It begins at the entrance from the street and weaves through the building creating display walls, rest areas, privacy screens and frames views. Two solid blocks of dark brick anchor the building and contain the majority of galleries. The glass connections between the two frame views of the river and the city of Cambridge.  Camridge currently has a large flood wall which separates the river from the city. A large open space that is part of the river trail expands at the museum to animate the river front and reconnect the river to the city.
