BLOOD

The contrast of War and Peace. The calm after the storm or the spilled blood that leads to more conflict, separation ,mess and competition.

There cannot be peace without conflict and there cannot be conflict with no peace.

We are only truly able to appreciate and be grateful for peace once we have experienced war and spilled blood from the past.

Process work and experimentation

I first began by taking photos of my friends using a point and shoot camera with a knit piece that I made over top of their heads and other body parts

I then began to narrow down the images and experiment with colour, composition / layout, gradient maps and distort filters
After adding all of my process into this behance project I noticed that I really liked how all the images looked together because of the chaos and mess. I thought it would be interesting to try and combined all of my process work into one final piece.

For the first two images featured below I just screen captured my behance website and added the main image on top. The third image was an accident, I tried to remove the background image but ended up removing part of the face and thought it looked really cool so I went with it and removed more of the face.
For my final piece I wanted to showcase my knitting skills that I learnt during semester one in Material sensibilities. The colours of the yarn I used are red and white which are meant to represent conflict (red) and resolution/ peace (white). From my word discovery the words that stood out to me the most were blood, messy, non human and separation which are represented in my final piece through the composition of the images, the facial expressions of the models, the distortion and the overall unease to the piece.
