Miniature Screw Switch for Rockets

Screw switch in a 2.6in rocket avionics bay
These miniature PCB screw switches were designed to safely and reliably power electronic systems in a small space. The PCB works by connecting the top and bottom of the board together with a bolt, which can be disconnected by unscrewing it. The board was designed in Eagle, and fabricated by JLCPCB.

The PCB itself is only 1.3in x 0.8in (or about the size of 2 postage stamps), small enough to fit into almost any rocket. The board attaches to the rocket through two 2-45 screw holes in the corner.
A brass nut is soldered to the bottom of the PCB, which the screw threads into. The top copper is pulled back slightly around the top screw to ensure that the top layer only touches the screw when it is torqued down. Leads for other rocket electrical systems attach to the two solder points above and below each switch.
