CleanMyMac X

CleanMyMac is one of the most common programs created for Mac. You've probably heard or seen about this product many times before. I was fortunate to work on it with such a fabulous MacPaw team from the very beginning.

On the one hand, creating a design for app was a trick since I was working with a phenom team that was able to implement almost anything at the highest level.
On the other hand, there are a lot of small and different utilities inside the CleanMyMac X that had to somehow make friends with each other and make it as easy as possible to use the application.

I noticed that it is much more pleasant for us to use objects that are not perfect. Sterile spaces and objects repel people, they seem boring to us, or we are afraid of spoiling them.

It isn't easy to make a perfectly calibrated interface, but giving it a sense of naturalness is more challenging.

I try to avoid straight vertical lines and circles. The widespread use of superellipse is the norm, but when we were doing the design, we had to translate everything into code, and it was a real challenge.

So important to make the primary screen self-descriptive. The icon and the application's name convey what it is. And the big scan button is not symmetrical and goes beyond the application, and it quickly turns attention to itself.

CleanMyMac X focused on three things: Cleanup, Protection and Speed.

We have designed a vast number of icons for each module. Interestingly, in some places, they are translucent, which allows us to pass the animation of the Flow-through them.

All icons were made in collaboration with illustrator Alexander Ageev.
