An Ode to Haitian Hand Painted Signs
In 2021, I decided to digitalize Haitian street letterings on public transportation and lottery boutiques for 36 Days of Type 08.
These street letterings are everywhere in Haiti and a big part of our visual culture.
Public transportation in Haiti is run by individuals that customize pickup trucks and work the common transit routes. Due to the cost of living there has been an increase in public transportation vehicles as a business however many can't afford the cost of decorating their vehicle anymore. There's also the fact that in the past years there's been an increase in protests which puts vehicles at risk of getting damaged when parked out in the streets so many do not invest in decorating their vehicle at the risk of losing them.

Thank you!
