The client TNSR Texas National Security Review - a quarterly online and print publication of War on the Rocks. 

The client chose to go with the domino cover concept. 
The first domino that is starting to tip should be a history book
The second can be a hypersonic missile
The third can be something with the biohazard sign on it
The fourth could have something with the nuclear peace sign; 

I made one variant of dominoes voluminous, so it is more clear that the idea is in dominoes. 
As the design of the previous covers was mainly in 2d, and from the references, the variant was also more desirable in 2D, so I tried to make such a variant. 
The second half of the domino -  is graphically depicted as a shadow. As if dominoes are standing on a plane.
