Reminiscence
This is a very special painting, it also has a weird backstory and I’d love to share it on here.
I’ve always had a fondness for citrus fruits, and didn’t really think much of it when I kept smelling citrusy odours while I didn’t even buy any fruit. The smell would never go away. I remember having dreams or even sights of an old house and a lemon or tangerine tree next to it. It was a familiar feeling and I could feel the sunshine and cool wind(yea it felt very real!)
But I have never been to any houses looking like that or seen citrus trees in someone’s yard! It was all very strange.
So me being me thought of painting the whole scene and for some reason I couldn’t paint. It ended up looking like an abstract artwork (I mostly paint scenic stuff) I was like maybe I’ll come back to it sometime else to which I did and ended up painting just a branch full of tiny tangerines. It looked complete so my work was done.
I didn’t even realise for days after, the smell had gone along with all the sightings! And I couldn’t remember clearly how the house looked like or even see the tree.
I can’t make sense of it till today. The good thing about all the crazy is…. I ended up with this lovely painting and every time I look at it I feel that nice feeling.
