These images are part of an ongoing bigger project (obviously): creating a set of Chinese Zodiac illustrations. It started in 2010, when my first daughter was born. I created the tiger for her. Since then, depending on my time and energy, I tried to add some more. I hope I will get the set complete during the next cycle, which started this year. It's less than 12 years left, so I better hurry.

The monkey was used in another project, that is shown elsewhere in my portfolio: Papervision. There is a story, why I chose this particular monkey, the Mandrill, which is an African monkey, and not an Asian one as one might expect. This story shall be told another time …
