SSP: London City Airport Tender

The Challenge
If you’ve ever stopped at an airport for food and drink the chances are it was provided by SSP, who operate in over 30 countries and over 140 airports. As part of their expansion, we were asked to create eye-catching tender documents. These unique and stylish pitches were then presented for service contracts at three airports: Stansted, Dublin and London City.

What We Did
In each case, we created a structure that would not only stand out from competitors’ documents, but would also perfectly echo the specific airport under tender. For example, for the Dublin Airport pitch we built a curved case in ice-blue Plexiglass and polished stainless steel rods to mimic the new airport building. We then printed each of the six tender documents, had them perfect bound and then fitted into the structure. We even etched windows into the design and ensured there was a system for easily extracting the documents.

For both Stansted and London City airports we also created bespoke pieces, even going the extra mile for London City of crafting what was really a creative installation of layered plates of glass etched with the skyline you’d see coming in to land.

The Result
Three tenders. Three successful bids. SSP and Ascender won each and every one of these bids against some very professional and well-funded competition. Which shows the clear advantage of our blue sky thinking.
