The blindfolded girl represents faith, she believes without seeing, knowing for sure what is to come. 

She is sitting on an albatross, a large sea bird that flies most of its lifetime and can fly around the earth without landing. The albatross uses dynamic soaring, relying on the wind. Thus it conserves most of its energy and gains lots of speed. 

As they fly above the thorny, leafless branches, the bird is able to see the unobstructed aerial view on top. Thus it is confident to transport them to safety.
