The design brief was for a brochure (tri-fold) and a Flyer or Poster to advertise their up coming "tough mudder" type of hard core obstacle races. Intially I was provided with some information, logo and some stock images.
Actual Brief:
"We need to develop a flyer that will be given to fitness oriented businesses to let them know about our upcoming event. We need it to be stylized in a way that an Under Amour commercial would draw the fitness community into the content. Our event revolves around the notion that we are creating a military style obstacle course that challenges everyday civilians to compete on the mental/physical level that our armed forces compete on a daily basis. We want our advertising to have elements of military, fitness, strength, endurance, hard work and perseverance."
So immediately I went for a dirty military look with the old "YOU GOT WHAT IT TAKES" slogan, I must say I was very close to going down the uncle sam "WE WANT YOU" route - but I'm not designing for the US army....yet!

The aim then was to turn the brochure into a flyer...again it needed to stand out.

After 10+ annotations to the original design - just changing the pictures and adding some inforamtion the end designs looked like this:
*note: I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THESE IMAGAES - just using them as a reference.
