This personal project was done to learn Houdini crowd system. Fbx models were used as source . They were rigged and animated in 3dsmax.
During the process of building the scene there were three main problem areas.
First - crowd sim setup. When agent has a prop(flag, scarf etc) he must have appropriate animation clip.
Second - material system.There were dosens male and female models with their own texture sets. I could use UDIM workflow but using agentname(same as texture) and Houdini material style sheet+CVEX I solve this problem.
Third -render. My stadium had around 60000 places for agents. I used Redshift to render stadium geometry but it only can render 8000(RTX 2080ti /64gb ram) angents as crowd instansing and CVEX weren't supported.So Mantra renderer did the job for crowd.
Also there was a cloth challenge - How to sim animated cloth props for huge stadium crowd. I just did one cloth sim for each prop and copy it for each agent using attributes(clipname, cliptime).
