IN THE SHADOW OF THE SUN
This project is commissioned by Some Kind Of Squirrel Productions. It is a story about Kajal, who is an 11 years old girl facing prejudice within her family for having her first period. The illustration has to capture the Madhubani (Mithila) art style, which is a completely new art style to me.
The main characteristics of a Mithila art style are the side profiles of the figure's face and body, the perspectives are flat, and their features (nose and eyes) are prominent. I have worked on the twenty-three scenes with the help of my client (Emma Macey-Storch) doing most of the storyboarding.
