Jesse, the founder and director of Holm, came to me at an exciting time in his career. Having recently reimagined his company, formerly known as Bear Trap, we had a good starting point for the project with a new and more relevant name: Holm. The company hails from Wales and the South West, where two islands lie in the channel between the regions - Flatholm and Steepholm.
My task was to capture the essence and values of the company to redefine its visual identity. The placement of the elements is deliberate; it reflects the touring and flexible nature of Holm.
As for the show posters, I went for a bold, minimalist design to show how the company stands out for being different. The accompanying imagery of the actors’ portraits replicates the audience experience of being up close and personal when sat in the round, immersed in the narrative. I had a blast with this project; it let me stretch my creativity to create something genuinely striking.
