St. Andrew Parish Website Redesign
When the new pastor for St. Andrew Parish arrived, the parish had a website already created but out of date and out of style. It was also very difficult for the staff to use and maintain. I was approached to redesign it to look more modern but still consistent with the historic building. I was asked to regularly maintain the site but to also make it user friendly so the parish staff could manage it if I was away or should a new pastor take over and want to maintain it himself.
We created an easy to navigate custom WordPress website. Over the last 5 years the parish needs have changed. Since 2020 with the COVID-19 pandemic the parish has relied heavily on the website for online Masses which are live-streamed weekly and regular notices to the status of the parish.
What once was a section on the home page for events became weekly (eventually biweekly) letter from the pastor.
The site was designed by myself and built with assistance from Ivars Leitis. Regular maintenance and updates are managed by myself. You can visit the full website here www.standrewoakville.com
Home Page
The St. Andrew home page features the most important information to parishioners. The main image is a scrolling banner that links to important pages when necessary. To the right the column includes "buttons" to important pages that need to be highlighted for a longer period of time.
Beneath this is the Mass Schedule, the news, and some highlights from the letter from the pastor.
While each sacrament has it's own page with more details in regards to what the sacrament entails St. Andrew's wanted a page in 2022 for the two most commonly requested sacraments key information and registration forms.
