The brief was to create a functional and sustainable meeting space for a small business in an existing building. In doing so, we aimed for circularity, an excellent indoor climate, good acoustics and the integration of plants.

The meeting room is a sunlit space whose chairs were recovered from a school that is being demolished. The tabletops are made of recovered wood.

We placed a new staircase in a light steel structure with walls in perforated steel. This staircase also serves as a space separator between the entrance and the meeting room.

The kitchenette in the meeting room consists of cabinets in terracotta colour (coated with natural paint) and Ecolan as worktop and splashback. Ecolan is an innovative material that is circular and sustainable. It consists of 35% recycled solid surface.

The ceiling is treated with an acoustic spray plaster made of old paper.

For the floor, we choose bamboo, a very sustainable material. Bamboo has a growth cycle of only four to five years and is recyclable. Bamboo absorbs more CO2 and produces more oxygen than trees.
