This suite of materials was designed for a co-sponsored event based on math & science education. The summits purpose was to "join fellow corps members, alumni, and other leading thinkers to learn about what you can personally do to maximize your contribution to advancing STEM education for all of our children". This was a single color job - talk about doing more with less - and I used a combination of imagery to set the tone. The helix image was a stock image that I manipulated (color, blur, etc.), and the algebraic equations I scanned from an old textbook, and then combined in Photoshop. I chose those images be representational of both math and science, as well as the implied notion that these fields at some point had some cross over. Read Less

Since this was a one color job I started by stripping everything of color - easier to work in black and white to ensure it would work in it's final form. I started by searching for a stock helix image (below) and stripped it of it's color and did some blurring and other tweaks. Following that I did some searching for some type of math examples, and settled on the algebra equations I found below in an old textbook. I tried handwriting these first, but it had a better feeling with the scanned images.
This is the invite cover with the final image that was used across the materials.  See below for an image of the final printed piece.
