2014 proof of concept for pMFCs (photo microbial fuel cells), using both the processes of photosynthesis and microbial digestion to generate electricity. Moss FM consists of ten moss pMFCs that charge a small battery to which a radio is attached. The device resulted in the publication of an article in Royal Society Open Science.
My guide to making your own photo microbial fuel cells is now available for purchase from Behance. It's based primarily on my algal fuel cells, so you can purchase it from the algae-powered thermometer project page. It does, however, contain a page with more details on how Moss FM was built. Before purchase, please be sure to read the disclaimer at the end of the project page, as you are buying a guide to an experiment, not a finished product.
