Morph - Wireless Mouse

Industrial Design
Morph

Morph is a wireless portable mouse that is tailored to each individual’s hand shape, offering maximum comfort and portability at the same time. It’s made of electronic parts with a piece of laser-cut veg-tanned leather.

Type: personal concept
Status: in development
Inspired by Microsoft's Arc Mouse, I decided to make improvements to it by adding side supports for the thumb and little finger. I thought of using 2mm thick veg-tanned leather as the substitution material for the traditional abs plastic. It is flexible and sturdy enough at the same to achieve the transition from two-dimensional to three-dimensional.
Morph ID was inspired when I made a vast amount of prototypes. I found out that different patterns can actually fit different users’ hand shapes.
Outcome 1: Comfort: Gives users full hand support and a soft feel of veg-tanned leather.
Outcome 2: Portability: Can be either assembled when using or taken apart when putting in a bag or on a key chain
Outcome 3: Customization: The generated patterns tailored for individuals’ hand shapes allow for the best fit for different users.
Instead of using a bulk piece of ABS plastic as most mice do, morph reduces the amount of plastic usage by implementing bio-degradable veg-tanned leather. Since the comfort and ergonomics are both at a very desired level, Morph is able to substitute both categories of portable mouse and ergonomic office mouse. Consumers no longer have to buy multiple mice to serve different purposes which reduces plastic consumption even more.
