I was born in Milan although I have lived abroad for many years. For me Milan is a city that still has the ability to move me and my favorite place is the "Duomo" (The Milan Cathedral).
The Duomo is the symbol of Milan and I remember it like this: totally pink. Yes, I know the color is not always the same but, trust me, it's just a matter of patience. If you know how to wait for the right moment, on a humid winter day, it can happen that the clouds suddenly open up and stay like that, wide open and suspended for a few moments. And then (it always happens) a ray of sun peeps out and hits the facade of the cathedral, illuminating it. And here is that candid pink of the marble of Candoglia. That marble, transported for centuries on overloaded barges through silent canals to the heart of Milan. And you will excuse me, it may be the classic nostalgia of the Italian abroad, but today I felt like letting myself go and fussing a little. Va bene così...
