I lived in Banaras for 5 years during my graduation. I noticed that there are few villages in Varanasi whose main livelihood is to make wooden toys in traditional Banarasi style. These toys has a lot of demand outside Banaras. And toy businessman and shop owners make huge profit out of it by buying these toys from local artist at very minimal price and reselling it to the customer at a good profit. And the artisans earns on an average of 300 rupees per day.
So i thought what if an artists could sell their product directly to the buyer instead of having a middleman who take most of the profit.
And that's where this guidebook came from. It is a small booklet that educate toy artisans about how to sell their products online. This booklet have step by step guidance on topics like how to open online shop and sell their crafts on WhatsApp. Facebook, Amazon etc. This will help them become self-reliant and profitable. The booklet is made in hindi language so that it reaches to maximum number of artisans.
It may also have english translation in next issue of publication.
