Motivate Me!
For a university brief we had to produce a 'motivational poster' and for mine i decided to focus on a Transphobia. When we got this brief there was a lot going on, the BBC published a transphobic article where they used a quote said by Lily Cade where she called for the 'lynching of trans women'. So i wanted to take inspiration from this quote and turn it on them.
In 2020 J,K, Rowling started to share transphobic tweets and comments on twitter which were quite transphobic, especially towards trans women. During this time a new kind of 'slur' started to spread online, 'TERFS' and this means "Trans-exclusionary radical feminist. First recorded in 2008" here is the link for the full definition https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TERF and this is where i got the idea for the text "Lynch The TERFS".
When trying to decide who to use on the poster for the face of the TERFS, and it had to be J.K. Rowling. Rather than just drawing her like she actually looks, i decided to make her a monster. After drawing her in different ways, Ogre, Demon, Witch etc, I went with the Ogre design, and combined it with features of a demon, horns and a tail.
