2021-22 UI Design Trends: Neumorphism, Glassmorphism.

Hello, Behance. I decided to explore UI trends for 2021-22 and adapt them to my designs. I was inspired by glassmorphism, neumorphism, flat design styles, which I feel is a perfect fit for soft, gentle design, and it can give calming, positive atmosphere to users. Furthermore, I used dark mode for them, which is excellent for ethereal and clean UI.
Now a little bit more about these trends.

Neumorphism is a new and improved version of skeuomorphic design. Even though it relates to skeuomorphism, the focus of that design style is not necessary to make digital objects look realistic to the eye, but rather to use the color palette for that purpose and give that feeling. Neumorphism is all about subtle contrast and solid colors. In neumorphism, we use shadows, lights, color palettes, and differences between elements to catch those feelings. The neuromorphic design has three common characteristics: low contrast, soft shadows, monochromatic color palette. Designers use these tools for making the realistic and smooth transition between UI elements.

Glassmorphism is a fresh new design technique where design elements appear like glass or plastic cards. Users can see the background colors buttons, and it has a sense of verticality. The top layer seems like virtual glass. For that effect, designers use a background and layer blur and transparent outline for strokes to simulate the edge of the glass. And also, for that glass effects, the designer needs to use backgrounds that have enough color difference to make that glass effect visible.
The three essential characteristics of that trend are the transparent glass effect, light borders, vivid or pastel colors. In addition, designers need to have the primary color and two shadows, dark and light shadow.

I have tried to combine these trends and explore new techniques. For example, you can see my inbox page for the messenger app below.
