Final Facebook Timeline version of the design
My inspiration for the new Natural Selection poster series came from looking through my old visual diary from 2011. I found these quirky little illustrations I had done and decided to roll with this theme. Natural selection? Spirit animals? Inner goddess?

For this poster Kimon (the DJ who hosts the Natural Selection events and who I collaborate with) and I decided Lauryn Hill would be a fitting icon to centre the design around. If you haven't seen the other poster series I did check it out at http://natashaviljoen.com/192268/2089193/gallery/event-poster-series. Each month we chose a relevant music icon to base the design on.
I created the poster by finding an illustration of a gazelle that worked with the image of Lauryn Hill that I wanted to use. I was inspired by my recent trip to Zimbabwe and wanted to do an impala but couldn't get the right illustration.. but nevertheless I illustrated to 'Tame Impala' (a new theory I'm testing). I superimposed the gazelle onto the Lauryn Hill image by tracing over it. All hand-done line work. Credit to my glass desk ;)
