During this Pandemic period, car camping is becoming popular. I experienced it once, but staying in a limited space was pretty challenging. So, based on my experience, I decided to make a camping car with enough space to give a comfortable place for campers as if they were in their home. To begin with, I thought of a clunky, armor-like form for my new camping car design. Since people can park their car and enjoy camping in any location as long as they are inside the car, I felt that car is something like a robot that protects people inside.
Visualized my first sensibility by envisioning shapes, structures, textures of camping car.
Outlined interesting shapes from visualization and developed sketches.
Transformed varies shapes from developed sketches.
Based on my first inspiration, "clunky and armor-like form," transformed various shapes.
Studied the space expansion method to solve the problem of insufficient indoor space and limited storage space of automobiles for camping.
To emphasize the clunky and armor-like form, created layered covers on the exterior during the process of mock up.
Combined the way of space expansion, and clunky and armor-like form, to finalize the design of the camping car.
