While I love designing for other companies, I love to have a brand I can call my own. In 2013 I started Indien Apparel, a brand dedicated to celebrate individualism yet also provide an all inclusive group I like to call “the tribe.” Shortly after my brother joined, allowing me to focus more on design and less on administrative things. 

 

Creating a logo for my own brand was no easy task. You are your own greatest critic, so coming up with something that pleased myself took longer than usual. It’ll all started in my sketchbook late one night. I googled “native american clipart” and began sketching an Indian Chief, making it look like a neon sign. After months of revision, I finished with a logo I was proud to call my own. I then shifted to typography and came up with two different styles, clean and rough.

 

The process resulted in a strong logo that properly represented my brand. It’s not blatant, but easy to see the reference to Native American culture.
