Road to the North East

A road journey, travelling from Assam, through Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, brought me in contact with a new diaspora of people, places, woven textiles and the untouched beauty of nature.
This project tries to capture the essence of the spaces visited, the interactions with poeple and their woven identities through photographs, sketches and textile renditions.

The Assamese women in the villages, weave for the Bihu festival, their traditional red and white, ‘mekhla chador’.
